Why you should join |
We are a group of students at Skyline High school who are interested in courtroom law and love having fun while learning.
The Skyline Mock Trial club was founded in 2013 by Jessica Lederman, McKenzie Duestch and Gauri Sharma. Since then, the team has expanded and competed in two seasons. |
We learn about courtroom procedure, presentation, public speaking. The Mock Trial club is comprised of two competitive teams, and each team is comprised of attorneys and witnesses. In the fall, the case is released, and attorneys work on picking apart the case and building arguments while witnesses adopt a persona from the case and practice acting and coming up with sly comebacks. In the spring, the teams compete at the district competition, and if they advance, in the state championships.

Mock trial is a great experience which gives you opportunities to not only learn about courtroom trials but also meet professionals in the field. Anyone looking for a career in law, criminal justice or government legislature would benefit from this club. In addition, the many skills used in the club are practical in the real world, including public speaking, thinking on your feet, debate and logic. We also have a ton of fun together, whether it be during meetings, in between trials or outside activities.
